With the Toyota App, you can control a series of vehicle functions from a distance – from locking and unlocking doors to checking how a Guest driver is doing behind the wheel of your vehicle.
Engine Start/Stop (Available On Select Models Only)
Start and stop your engine from a distance – ideal for warming up or cooling down your vehicle before you get in. Plug-in Hybrids and Battery Electric Vehicles: Replaced with Remote Climate Start.
Door Lock/Unlock
Lock and unlock vehicle doors from a distance to ease your way in, and ease your mind if you can’t remember their status.
Status of Windows/Moonroof
Check to see if windows and moonroof are closed / open even when your vehicle is not in sight. Status and alerts vary by model.
Last Parked Location
Allows you to quickly and easily find your vehicle in an uncovered parking lot.
Guest Driver Settings
Allows you to set conditions for a Guest driver and be informed via notification if any are violated, including maximum speed, maximum kilometres, distance from a set location and more.
Home-To-Vehicle Management
Start your car (automatic transmission only) lock/unlock your doors, check your fuel level status and more from the comfort of your home using the Toyota Skill for Amazon Alexa or the Toyota Action for Google Assistant™.
Smartwatch Compatibility
When the Toyota App is paired with a compatible Apple Watch® or Android Wear device, you can use your smartwatch to use select Remote Connect features including engine start/stop (automatic transmission only) and door lock/unlock.
Unique Plug-In Hybrid/EV Features
Plug-in Hybrid and Battery Electric vehicles equipped with Remote Connect include Remote Climate Start and Charge Management.
What is Remote Connect?

How long is the run time when using Remote Engine Start or Remote Climate Start?
The engine run time will depend on the vehicle.
For gas/hybrid vehicles the engine runs for up to ten (10) minutes. For plug-in hybrid/electric vehicles the climate control runs for up to twenty (20) minutes
Can I operate the climate control remotely?
On select Toyota Multimedia-equipped vehicles with an active Remote Connect trial or subscription, functions such as climate control, defrosters, heated seats, and heated steering wheel may be available. Please refer to the App for applicability.
I am encountering an error using Remote Connect. What should I do?
For Remote Connect to command the vehicle, certain pre-conditions must be in place, including:
- Vehicle in park
- Key fobs not inside or near vehicle
- Doors are closed and locked (for at least 2 minutes before attempting a remote start)
- Vehicle security alarm is not triggered
- Trunk, hood and moonroof are closed
- Vehicle engine start push button is not depressed
- Foot brake is not being pressed
- Fuel level is above ¼ tank
- Vehicle is not ACC-On, not ignition on, or not already running Remote Start
- Ambient temperature is above approximately -30 degrees Celsius (-22 degrees Fahrenheit)
Do I have to pay for Remote Connect?
Toyota offers a complimentary trial. At the end of the trial, service can be maintained via paid monthly subscription.

When do I have to provide my credit card information?
As the expiry of your complimentary trial period approaches, you will receive a notification in the app or an email from Toyota detailing how to start a paid subscription. Should you elect to subscribe, you will need to enter your credit card information in the Toyota app.
