What to do in the Event of an Accident
If you’ve been in an accident, it’s understandable if you’re not immediately thinking about repairing your vehicle. When you do contact your insurance provider, they may direct your vehicle to a predetermined body shop. But you have the right to choose the collision repair facility that follows proper Toyota repair procedures. We encourage you to review the following information when reporting the details of an accident to the police and to your insurance company.
File a police report
Stay calm and make sure no one is injured. If there are injuries, call for assistance immediately. Then, report the accident right away.. A police report will assist you in filing an insurance claim. Take pictures or make a sketch of the accident site, showing the position of all vehicles and people involved. Get appropriate information from all parties, including witnesses; name, address, phone, insurance, etc.
Contact Toyota Roadside Assistance
Call 1-888-TOYOTA8 (1-888-869-6828) or press the Emergency SOS button if your vehicle is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense, to have your vehicle towed to the nearest Toyota Dealer or Certified Collision Centre. If a tow truck is already on scene, insist on having your vehicle towed to the nearest Toyota Dealer.
Request Toyota Collision Repair
Contact your insurance company as soon as possible after the accident. They may direct your vehicle to a pre-determined body shop for any necessary repairs. Under no circumstances are you legally-obligated to take your vehicle to this body shop. It is your right to choose the collision repair facility to complete the repair of your Toyota. Remember, your Toyota Dealer is your best partner in this situation.
